Yesterday we received this funny "going home" story from Kathy, who graciously allowed us to share her story so you can have a laugh too. (Plus it's a great reminder to hold cardboard cat carriers by the bottom!)
Good Morning Butte Humane! On Saturday I adopted two kitty cats, Gizelle & Conrad. Now known as Posey & Panda. We had a little misadventure when we first got home that I thought I'd tell you about!
So I'm home from Butte Humane with my 2 new babies, Panda & Posey! I reach into the car to grab the first cardboard carrier & the bottom falls out & there's Panda starring at me in the driveway!! OHHHH NO!!! I tried to pick him up, but he skittered under the car!! I grab Posey's carrier & start walking to the front door calling to Panda the whole way. He's actually following me! Until some punk on a motorcycle drives by & scares him!! Then he runs into the back yard! I get Posey settled in the house then go looking for Panda. He's still in the backyard so I started talking to him. It took about 30 minutes but he was letting me get closer & closer. Finally he let me pet him. I picked him up & tried to put him in Posey's carrier but he escaped AGAIN!! But I still had a hand on him so I wrapped him up in my skirt & held him against my body!! Yes, the neighbors now know what kind of undies I wear, but so what!! Can you imagine? My skirt pulled up to my waist, while I waddle to the front door with my arms wrapped around a squirming bundle! Then the little turkey escapes my skirt when I reached for the screen door handle!! But again he doesn't go far. I sat on the porch with him & the more I talked to him the closer he came. Finally I got up, opened the screen door & he walked right in all by himself!! Yea!!! Success!! Whew!!
If you remember, Posey (Gizelle) was very, very shy! Well its been 1 whole day & she's turned into quite the flirt! We're all doing well. Eating, drinking & using the litter boxes. Thank you for making my family complete!
